Hi, I'm Luke. I picked up pickleball five years ago and haven't put the paddle down since. I went from a low-3.0 rating after my first tournament to medaling at 4.5+ and competing at the 4.5 to 5.0 level today. That climb is exactly what I teach: the strategy, shot selection, and point-by-point decisions that get you unstuck. Now I teach as a side gig, including as an instructor at PenMet Recreation Center in Gig Harbor. Off the court I'm a software engineer who loves snowboarding and hiking. On it, nothing makes me happier than a student hitting that "ohh, THAT'S why" moment.

Great for

  • First lessons
  • Breaking plateaus
  • Point strategy
  • Tournament prep
I'd been stuck at 3.5 for a year. Three lessons with Luke and I finally understand what I'm doing between shots.

Hi, I'm Sora! I played high-level tennis for ten years before pickleball completely stole my heart two years ago, and I've been sprinting up the ranks since: four medals at 4.0, now competing at the 4.5 to 5.0 level. I teach the way I learned: clean fundamentals first, so your strokes hold up when the game speeds up. I coach by showing more than telling. Expect a quick demo, then reps with patient feedback until it clicks. Off the court I'm an ultrasound tech who loves long walks, traveling, and hunting down authentic Thai food.

Great for

  • Brand-new players
  • Stroke makeovers
  • Tennis converts
  • Consistency under pressure
Sora rebuilt my forehand from scratch and somehow made it fun. My drives finally land.

My wife and I took a private beginner lesson: Luke was great: patient, skilled and lots of fun. We managed to play quite a bit and we are looking forward to booking a next lesson!

After my first 1 on 1 lesson with Luke, I left feeling so much more confident about playing and overall so excited to continue my journey with pickleball! He worked with me on the fundamentals, my form and drilled me on my returns. He was very thorough, patient and gave me positive and constructive feedback. Can’t wait for my next lesson!!

FAQ

What should I bring?

Water, court shoes, and your paddle if you have one — we have loaner paddles and bring the balls. Outdoor lessons run rain-or-shine decisions the morning of.

Can I book a weekly recurring lesson?

Yes. In step 4 of booking (Date & time), set "Repeat?" to the number of weeks to lock in the same time for up to 8 weeks. Cancel any time.

Can I reschedule a lesson?

Yes. The link in your confirmation email lets you move a lesson to any other open time with the same coach, at the same court and price, free up to 24 hours before. Inside 24 hours, text your coach and we'll sort it out. Want a different coach, length, or court? Cancel and book again.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancel free any time up to 24 hours before your lesson using the link in your confirmation email — the same link moves it to another open time. Inside 24 hours, email us at luke@lukecramer.com. Since you pay at the lesson there's nothing to refund and no automatic fee, and we're human about emergencies. If late cancels or no-shows become a habit, we'll ask you to prepay the next one.

How do I pay?

In person at your lesson: cash, Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle. You'll see the exact total when you book, and we never collect payment info online.

For semi-private and clinics, is the price total or per player?

The price shown is the total for the whole group. Split it between players however you like. Per-player cost is shown at booking (e.g. an $80/hr semi-private for 2 is $40 each per hour).

Where do lessons happen?

Fircrest Park, Harry Todd Park in Lakewood, and Point Defiance Park in Tacoma are all included in the price. They're public courts we can't reserve, so availability isn't guaranteed — we'll sort it out on the day if they're packed. We also travel: pick any court in the South Sound and we'll meet you there for $10–$40, depending how far it is.

How long is a lesson?

60, 90, or 120 minutes. An hour is plenty for one or two focus areas; 90 minutes leaves room to drill and then play points with what you drilled. The 90- and 120-minute lessons are discounted, so they cost less per hour. You'll see the exact total before you book.

Who gets the first-lesson discount?

Anyone who hasn't taken a lesson with us before — $10 off an hour, $15 off 90 minutes, $20 off two hours. Tick the box when you book and we'll check it against past bookings by email and phone. On a weekly series it applies to the first session.

Can we book both coaches for a clinic?

Yes. Pick "Both coaches" when you book. It adds $40/hr to the group rate, so an hour for four is $160 instead of $120. Longer clinics prorate and discount just like the base rate: 90 minutes for four is $225. Two coaches means smaller groups per drill and more reps each.

Which cities do you travel to?

Travel is a flat fee on top of the lesson, set by how far we drive. $10: Fife, Fircrest, Lakewood, Parkland, Steilacoom, Tacoma, and University Place. $20: Auburn, DuPont, Edgewood, Federal Way, Frederickson, Milton, Puyallup, Ruston, South Hill, Spanaway, and Sumner. $30: Algona, Bonney Lake, Elk Plain, Gig Harbor, Graham, Lacey, Pacific, and Purdy. Anywhere else we'll still come — that's $40. Don't see yours? Ask.

What if my preferred day is full?

Try a nearby day or another duration — the calendar shows every open time for both coaches. If nothing fits, get in touch and we'll find a time.
